Basa Fish Fillets and Cubes
Basa Fish Fillets and Cubes
Neutral, boneless and endlessly useful, basa is the fish to keep on hand for the nights when dinner has to be quick. This pack gives you both cuts — flat pieces for baking and pan-frying, and neat cubes that go straight into curries, soups and hotpots with no knife work at all.
Why you'll love it
- Two cuts in one pack — flat pieces plus ready-cut cubes, so you can pick the right shape for the dish.
- Completely boneless — no pin bones to pick out, which makes it a reliable choice for children.
- Mild and adaptable — a clean, faintly sweet flavour that carries strong marinades and spices.
- Kind on the budget — a firm white-fleshed fish at a fraction of the price of cod or snapper.
How to cook it
Pat dry, season, and pan-fry in a hot pan for three to four minutes a side until golden. The cubes need only a brief simmer — drop them into a curry or soup for the last five minutes so they stay intact. Also excellent battered, or steamed with black bean and ginger.
Storage
Supplied as a 2 kg pack. Refrigerate at 0–4°C for up to two days, or freeze on arrival and thaw overnight in the fridge.
